It’s finally happening, the 24-hour tube is set to begin this Friday on the Central and Victoria lines. Which got us thinking about our favourite after-hours spots, plus a couple that are firmly on our radar. Get ready to go full steam ahead.
In terms of late night drinking and dining, there’s the always the old favourites. Duck and Waffle is literally up there for post-midnight feasts and great cocktails with the view. Or, for something more casual, there’s always greasy spoon Polo Bar. For pancakes with a side of people watching, Balans will always be a UJ fave. Or, Bar Italia.
However, if you want to make a night of it, The Bloodshot Supper Club is the hot ticket in town. Helmed by Robin Gill of The Dairy and one guest chef (this year Brad Mcdonald and Tomos Parry have both been guests), the after-hours feast kicks off from 1am, and goes until the early hours. The next supper is on October 29. Book now, these tickets are gold dust.
For partying, just like eating and drinking, we’ve got our strong faves that keep us going until dawn:Secretsundaze, Savage, Oval Space (RIP Fabric and Studio 338). But it’s Beat, new on our radar, that has us excited. The members’ club for those in the know is only open from 2.30am to 6am and flies in DJs, such as Solomun, worth staying up for.
Next, come 2017, we’ll be welcoming The Ned, a new joint venture from Soho House and Co and New York’s Sydell Group and it looks impressive. Taking over the old Midland Bank, the 317,000 square foot space set over eight floors will be split between private members-only spaces (Ned’s Club) and public spaces: there’ll be a rooftop, nine restaurants, 252 hotel rooms, private function spaces, a spa, Hamman, gym and a couple of bars… one of which will be open 24 hours.
