Arriving seemingly out of the blue and still managing to launch a menu to critical acclaim, 108 Garage took London’s restaurant scene by storm after chef Chris Denney answered owner Luca Longobardi’s advert for a chef on Gumtree. An unlikely tale to match an unlikely place, 108 Garage hasn’t housed cars since the 1970s, but the bare bricks and repurposed furniture are just as striking as Denney’s cooking. Agnolotti, lamb heart ragu and Isle of Skye scallops are delivered with deft turns for the palate (Japanese dashi, swede and Bengali mustard oil all feature), while the real fun happens up on the counter, where Denney tests out his latest creations. Unsurprisingly, it’s hard to get a reservation here, so we recommend trying early and often.
