If Nikkei’s your thing, head to Chotto Matte. Across three floors on Soho’s Frith Street you’ll find a cocktail lounge, sushi bar and robata grill, so flitting between seabass sashimi ceviche and on to yellowtail sushi is as easy as changing courses. There’s a lot of ground to cover here, so a tasting menu is definitely the way to go to get your full whack of Chotto. They even do brunch, where tempura calamari and beef short rib with teriyaki jus make a welcome break from endless benedicts – don’t miss dessert, or you’ll miss the passion fruit brûlée. In the summer, the doors on the ground floor open up to the hustle of Soho, and considering ‘chotto matte’ is an informal way of asking someone to ‘wait a second’ in Japanese, this is a perfect excuse to indulge in some cafe culture with a pisco sour in hand.
