From the team behind Michelin-starred Endo at Rotunda, SUMI is the more casual offering by Endo Kazutoshi. Named after his mother, SUMI gives you a taste of what the master can do.
The Décor/Vibe
Set on Westbourne Grove, this space (ex-Andina) is small and long-ish, with a buzzy terrace that almost doubles their size. The décor is taupe tones, wood and brushed cement, and it’s soothing, light and bright. Try to get a table by the windows and watch the world go by.
The Food and Drink
Open hand rolls are the specialty here, and their veg dishes, overall, are highlights. The yasi temaki (pickled carrot and mooli radish, smoked and fermented mooli, chives with sesame and soy) is excellent and we hear the mushroom gohan (a cooked dish) is good too. Do try one of their signature cocktails; the Sunahama Sour has pineapple rum, lemon, egg white and ginger.
