Top 5: Supper Clubs

We’ve scoured the capital for the best out there

  • Slap Ya Papa’s Chicken Town Takeover

£33, Sunday 4th June, 6-9pm, Chicken Town, The Old Fire Station, Town Hall Approach Rd, N15 4RX

Celebrating the vibrant culture (and incredible food) of New Orleans to London, Slap Ya Papa brings a slice of Louisiana to London, in one-of-a-kind spaces across the capital. Their next event is a Chicken Town Takeover; SYP are occupying the Tottenham enterprise with a special Southern menu and (yes, you heard) unlimited wings – the brunch is already sold out so grab a ticket soon. All of the bar spend goes to support Chicken Town’s work, which you can find out more about here.

  • Nights at the Round Table

    £35, Saturday 27th June, 7-10pm, East Finchley, N2

A sibling supper club collaboration, #UJLoves Nights at the Round Table just for the name alone. Using locally-sourced ingredients, their global four-course-menu changes seasonally, and includes a paired drink with each course; think savoury profiteroles with kiwi bellini, hazelnut-crusted lamb chops with seedlip spirits and elderflower tonic, and chocolate guinness cake with chai.

  • ReggaeToni

    £33, Friday 2nd June, 7.30-11.30pm, Brother Marcus, Balham, 9 Chestnut Grove, SW12 8JA

The Dinner Ladies are taking over Brother Marcus for two nights this June with ReggaeToni; a celebration of two great things: freshly made pasta, and reggae. Their five course pasta tasting menu experiments with different flavours of dough – a must for lovers of all things carb.

  • Mystery Menu with Jay Rayner

    £45, 22nd June, 7-10pm, Clerkenwell, WC1X

We can’t tell you much about this except it’s hosted by the inimitable Jay Rayner. Sustainability is a hot issue right now, and Jay’s mystery supper club menu is created with surplus food sourced from local suppliers. Think guest chefs, seasonal food, and three courses in a special venue.

    The Water House Project

    £50, 22nd June, 7.30-10.30pm, Bethnal Green, E2

By day Gabriel Waterhouse chefs at Galvin La Chapelle, but by night he hosts supper clubs in his Bethnal Green home. What to expect? Michelin-quality British dining in an intimate setting; the current seven-course-menu includes heritage beetroot salad, flamed cornish mackerel and wood pigeon tagine. Plus, it’s BYOB, so pick up your favourite bottle before you arrive.
