We caught up with our friend and founder of Ibiza’s best concierge Deliciously Sorted (which is celebrating their 20th birthday this year, happy birthday DS!) to ask her what five things she’s excited about this year in Ibiza and Formentera.
1) Chiringuitos of Formentera
I am delighted that the much-loved, very special chiringuitos in Formentera – which have recently (tragically) been sold – have one year’s grace. My absolute favourite is Bartolo, because it’s been going since 1967 and is the most iconic. I will literally personally put money in to make sure it exists next year! I also love Kiosko62 and Lucky. We are hoping that all eight of these brilliant chiringuitos do re-open and that we can work together to conserve them moving forwards.
2) The Standard, Ibiza
I absolutely love it. It’s so great to have a proper urban hip hotel. The rooms are great, I love the Mexican cuisine on the roof, and for any Ibiza Town meetings, it will be my secret spot. I think they’ve done such a great job.
3) Fincadelica
My absolute favourite new villa on the island, complete with a soundproof cave, gorgeous interiors, rolling finca estate, and all the other options that come with a five-star villa. I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday there recently and it really is magically, beautifully dreamy.
4) Biking and Diving
In Ibiza, Toby from Walking Ibiza, is now doing tours on e-bikes. I think it’s the best way to see the island, and you can do it even if it’s 85 degrees out as you just put it in turbo; I’ve definitely discovered parts of the island I’ve never known before.
In Formentera, diving with Vellmari. The owner is an amazing National Geographic oceanic photographer: he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the seas and works very closely with us at the Ibiza Preservation Foundation.
5) Ibiza Food Scene
I am genuinely excited about the food scene in Ibiza right now – there’s so much going on, and a lot of the great new things are opening in the east (in Santa Eulalia, likely because rents are lower). Nudo is a new spot on the beach and I am also loving Hambre, Pepita, Pan’d’or, Higo Ibiza, La Llama and Chiringuito Blue. Not in the east, but in Ibiza Town, a very cool, 16-course, eight-seater omakase place with a speakeasy vibe has opened – Omakase by Walt – with better omakase than I had in NYC last week. And finally, the mighty Jondal. It is such an absolute showstopper, in a discreet way.
