My Story
Ahead of the busy Ibiza season, we catch up with Katy Ellis, manager at Anglo Management, who looks after leading artists including Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, and Idris Elba, to name a few. Katy tells us a bit about her career ‘story.’
It was always the music industry for me. To put a finer point on it, the entry point was electronic music.
I see myself as a child of the rave and when that grabbed me, I knew for me it wasn’t just about going out and listening to the music, it really defined me, and my passion and commitment to it has been endless.
If you want to get into this industry I’d say: head down, work hard and be respectful and thankful for any opportunity and make it work. It’s not always clear what you need to do but it will become so.
What drives me? When you are winning it feels so good – it’s euphoric. And even when you are not winning it’s different every day, you never know what’s round the corner and that is forever challenging and exciting.
There have been a few lessons!! Don’t think you know everything, you never stop learning. Listen, remember to be respectful as you will certainly be seeing that person again. Be humble…I have to check myself on the above fairly often!
Highlights? Whoa, I’ve been doing this job a long time, so many good times. Madness Liberty of Norton Folgate album campaign, too many Fatboy moments to mention, Pete Tong Ibiza Classics at the O2, Idris Elba at Coachella, Madness Buckingham Palace…if you can make this job work then the highlights are coming!
Future plans? More holidays, I’m going to need it with the summer I have ahead.
