Tucked away, off a leafy square that’s a two-minute walk to Paddington Station, is this new townhouse abode by the French group Lignée Hotels.
The Hotel
A classic west London white Victorian townhouse greets you as you pull up, and the black and white tiles, sculpted plants, and gold script lettering immediately set it apart from others in this area. Once inside, things are kept chic with a muted rust-orange tone throughout, with vintage mirrors and accents. The hotel is spread over five floors, with interiors by Paris-based Fabrizio Casiraghi.
The Vibe
There’s something a bit Wes Anderson about this place: classic and quirky. The fonts, the notepads, the carpet. It’s an eclectic mix grounded with quality hardware and a good eye. They’ve opened very recently, so it feels quite laidback, too.
The Rooms
There are 60 rooms of varying sizes. All have minibars with coffee/tea and a reasonably well-stocked fridge. Rooms have dark wood furniture, classic white bedding, and Floris toiletries; some have terraces, and all have excellent sunlight, when the weather behaves.
Restaurants/ Bars
There’s a Pondicherry Bar, with a limited menu of wines and a small seating area. Ask and they might be able to serve you something by the glass (even if it says bottle only), if they have it open.
Highlights
The location. Roll out of the front door and onto the Heathrow Express and be at the airport in 15 minutes. You’re also able to walk to Selfridges in about the same amount of time.
