The Facts
Originally designed in 1956 as a Caravan Motor Lodge in the city’s Tenderloin district, the Phoenix has since become a long-time musicians’ favourite, with Kurt Cobain, David Bowie and Neil Young all counted as fans. A fresh renovation from Texan hotelier Liz Lambert keeps it just the right side of kitsch.
