More info

Opened in 2009, this is the Hong Kong-based company’s sole Shangri-La in Japan. Located next to Tokyo Station, which is home to the Shinkansen bullet train network, this hotel is an especially perfect choice if you’re in transit.

The Hotel

The sparkling chandeliers (that are everywhere you look) set the tone for this property – big blinging. Patterned baroque-style carpets, fine silk furnishings, rich tapestries, and traditional Japanese touches are seen throughout.

The Vibe

Guests here are a mix of business travellers, Shangri-La enthusiasts, and larger groups.

The Rooms

With 200 guest rooms, this is a large property. Rooms are contemporary, with great views, pillow menus, and the silkiest of bed linens. Highlights include the bathroom TVs, marble tubs with bath pillows, an XXL elegant sliding door that acted as a bathroom/bedroom room divider, and shoe shine service. Pajamas are supplied, products are L’Occitane, and the window-front chaise longues are perfect for nighttime stargazing.

Deluxe King

Restaurants/Bars

There’s Nadaman, a Japanese kaiseki (multi-course) restaurant, a sparkling Lobby Lounge Bar for drinks and breakfast, and the Horizon Club, for guests staying in one of the 41 Horizon rooms.

Wellbeing

Chi, The Spa at Shangri-La, has six incredibly luxurious treatment rooms, with Ilia and Sisley products, a health club with a swimming pool, and you can even borrow workout kit, if you need it. They also have sound baths and other customised treatment options, too.

Highlights

Breakfast. With views and OTT chandeliers with a side of bacon, this truly feels opulent. Tables have white tablecloths and heavy silver salt and pepper shakers, and there are healthy menu options. Also, bathroom TVs. Who knew news while brushing your teeth was so useful? We also liked the bell staff’s uniforms.
