OK, own up, who has ever asked for a doggy bag? Having just spent a couple of weeks Stateside, it seems this undignified practice is alive and well. I personally expect more from British diners, and now you really don't need to participate. |

As well as being a slick restaurant, the Grocer on Warwick in Soho sells a range of handmade restaurant-quality ready meals for you to take home and enjoy in front of the telly. For those who can't cook, won't cook and refuse to order pizza, a row of smart stainless steel fridges are colourfully stocked with dishes such as black cod in sweet miso, Thai vegetable curry, meatballs with tomato & oregano sauce, at your convenience. Brought to you by Ashley Sumner & Vivienne Hayman, owners of the award- winning Sugar Club and the original Grocer on Elgin, the Grocer on Warwick again sees head chef, David Selex - the Sugar Club's master of fusion - provide an eclectic restaurant menu cooked with woks, a tandoori oven, a rotisserie and a traditional charcoal barbeque. Alternatively, if you just fancy a quick nibble then you can indulge in a pistachio tipped meringue from the bakery, to take back to the office or enjoy in the coffee shop. The NY-style breakfasts are a definite highlight. They put Pret's more-mayo-than-egg baguettes to shame. So you really need never brave the food hall at M+S again, or indeed try it doggy style. |
