New and improved

C'mon, admit it. You're Schragered out.

Sick of paper-skinny girlies sipping thin drinks at The Sanderson's Long Bar or daintily avoiding fusion-minimal nibbles at Asia de Cuba?

We've got the inside track on where the boys are hanging.

The Waldorf (acquired from Le Meridien last January) is unveiling a £30m refurbishment that's a curvy Edwardian belle to Ian's waif-er thin supermodel. A team of designers - including Aukett's Jane Johnson for the lobby - have spent Hilton's money on turning the Aldwych's white elephant into a twenty-first century mecca of cool.

The Palm Court has been gloriously restored and there's 300 bedrooms where you have a décor choice - the ultimate consumerist option - "design" or "contemporary".

But the icing on the how-cool-is-this-cake is definitely Homage.

In a paean to fin-de-siècle Vienna, Homage - a fluid space that stretches from the Bar to the Grand Salon's dining room - has an eclectic interior, blending original features (the Patisserie's an oak-panelled haven) with modern art from Bruce McLean, Martin Fuller and Sir Peter Blake.

Theatreland just got hip. You heard it here first.
