Nonstop music

When we heard that London was getting its very own Sonar this year, we laughed. Sonar is more about the setting and sunshine than anything else - the music's just a bonus.

Upon further inspection however, even we have to admit, Encompass may not be Sonar, but it looks pretty damn good.

This Friday, over 100 DJs and bands will storm the East End of town to play for three days and three nights (same as Sonar), over six venues, for a bit of a bank holiday shake-down. With acts like Goldie and Kid Acne, Tom Middleton and Mr Velcro Fastener (don't know him but love his name) a 'bit' of a shakedown is an understatement; the East End is gonna be on fire.

The partying's a plus, but once again like Sonar, Encompass isn't only about jammin' - it also focuses on the business side of things. With exhibitions, music seminars and stalls with movers 'n shakers galore, this is a hob-nobber's heaven. There's also indoor toilets (a serious selling point), top notch fringe events and fabulous nosh (this is Brick Lane after all).

Add that to the prospect of your own bed at the end of it all and Encompass might be a good excuse to tell easyJet to piss off and holiday somewhere else this year.

Now all we have to do is pray it doesn't rain.
