At first glance the prospect of sitting in a room watching a grown man paint with his hands might not sound like the most tempting mid-week night out. And while we'll freely admit that the ICA's 'Pikadon Live' event was never going to be first date material, if you want a truly extraordinary night out then look no further. |

Pikadon is a self-styled 'progressive world peace movement' out of Tokyo who's aim is to promote reactions against war and mass destruction by staging 'life affirming events'. Now we can't promise that the ICA performance will affirm your life, but it should be very interesting, to say the least. The infamous Japanese painter Seitaro Kuroda will be the guy with the messy hands and he'll be creating large-scale paintings to the equally barmy accompaniment of trumpeter and electronic pioneer Toshinori Kondo (Roy Castle he ain't) and UK design innovators Tomato who will be messing about with a laptop and a video projector. Plus, at the end of the night all the completed paintings will be given away to members of the audience to take home. Home decor that's cheaper and far cooler than anything IKEA will ever produce... all in the name of world peace. Bargain.
