Pack them on

Remember Noble Rot? We actually liked it there...

Maybe not in the last couple of years, but there was a time...

Which is why when we heard it had been re-vamped, we were a tad nostalgic - if not a bit overprotective... Another re-vamp? Say goodbye to the good times...

Fortunately, not so here. Upon arrival, we wished Kilo had moved in sooner. Chic, and comfortable, Kilo is a much needed addition to the restaurant Sahara that is Mayfair (at least this part).

Tucked away on Mill St, they've created a refined sanctuary where you can escape the hustle and bustle of Regents Street. A well composed French menu did not disappoint. Highlights include a type of artichoke benidict with sautéed mushrooms, fish soup (served in a fabulous mini copper pot), kilos of prawns, seabass (deboned), salmon (skilful thin cut) and fresh scallops with tomatoes. Wines and desserts looked fabulous too, but as we visited for lunch, it felt a bit excessive to delve (although I wanted to).

The bar downstairs, although nothing special, has a DJ booth, cocktail menu, seats for over 100 and is open till three am; suffice to say, it will be packed every night. It's still a member's bar, but flash them a tenner and become a member for the night. Kilo - you'll put on a few while you're there and it's worth it!
