All those oligarchs reading Urban Junkies today should be creaming their Cavalli jeans at the upswing in Knightsbridge over the past few years. Gone are the times when any self-respecting Sloane (the predecessors to the Russian mafia/Eurotrash SW1 seat) had to perch their post-shopping Jimmy Choos/Churches amongst the high-class hookers and Arabian knights in the Fifth Floor and Mandarin Oriental bars. |

Now there's the Wellington Club, Millennium Bar and Townhouse. The Russians aren't the only nation making imprints on the local hospitality scene, and you no longer have to settle for the Yo Sushi! conveyor belt at Harvey Nicks to sample the second. Joining Zuma and Nozomi (or, if rumours are to be believed, replacing the latter) is Viktor and Vbar, a recently re-vamped restaurant and slick new cocktail bar selling modern Japanese food (and incidentally Russian-owned). Next door to Bowater Place - which is to be knocked down and turned into the most expensive homes in London - it provides deftly mixed cocktails and fabulous dishes such as Almond Honey Shrimp Tempura, Duck Leg Sake and Yellowtail Taradito. Those who've yet to benefit from the fall of the communist regime will also welcome the four course pre-theatre dinner menu, priced at just £12.
