If the runaway success of the iPod has proven anything, it is that music plays a central role in most people's lives. The tell-tale white earphone leads that are seen plugged into everyone from 60 year old business bods to PYTs indicate that there are music fans all around us. |

It seems odd then that so few music magazines exist, which reflect today's music scene with any accuracy, authority or panache. With an abundance of hot talent to write about, music is clearly in rude health, but where's the voice shouting about it? Thankfully some of the team behind the brilliant, and sadly missed, Jockey Slut have got together to make amends. Dummy first appeared once last year, but now is all set to go quarterly beginning with a new issue which features female MC and foul-mouthed superstar Lady Sovereign on the cover. With cutting-edge graphic design and photography to match its sharp journalism, Dummy is likely to inject some much needed nous into an area of writing that can too often be predictable. The new issue covers emerging buzz bands such as Good Shoes, New Pony Club and Be Your Own PET alongside interviews with Graham Coxon and, most intriguingly, Kraftwerk's Ralf Hutter. For music heads, Dummy is clearly a no-brainer.
