Easter Escape
Unplug, get away

Still haven't got around to booking that Easter getaway?

Well, neither have we. But surprisingly, we're not out of luck yet.

Below are list of last minute greats that - at the time of print - still had space.

Surfing: Croyde, North Devon
Perfect weekend getaway for sporty types. Seawater, coastal walks, pasties, ice cream, cold beer and good pub grub. Must do: learn how to hang ten at surf school - or try to at least (do fear the wet suit though). Accommodation here is tight this time of year, but you can still rent a cottage or B&B it.
Check out marsdens.co.uk for self-catering cottages or croydedevon.co.uk for places to stay. Four hours by road.

Poncing: Sussex
Don the tweeds and wellies and hit the hills. There is still quite a bit of accommodation in the area, but we like the York House. Like a stylish city pad, but with all the cosy trimmings of a luxury cottage, this cosy B&B is set in teeny hamlet with great pubs, clay pigeon shooting and country walks nearby.
York House Rooms from £90. 2.5 hours by road.

Shopping: Cotswolds, Gloucestershire
Looking for antiques and quaint shops, and don't mind being overrun with tourists, then the Cotswolds are for you. If you don’t already have your own favourite spot, you could do worse than 'slumming' it at the Cotswold House Hotel. (01386 840330)
Double from £130 per night. Not feeling so flush? Then check out the Kings Arms Hotel (01386 840256) with B&B from £100. 2.5 hours by road

Eating and Drinking: Ludlow, Shropshire
Want to know where the nation's foodies spend Easter? No, not Bray, try Ludlow, the market town with six Michelin recommended restaurants. Here you'll find the two-starred Hibiscus (French) and Mr Underhills, a riverside Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms - so perfect for the 'roll' home, then.
Stay at The Stag Inn. 3 hours by road.

Playing: Everywhere
And if you just want a house big enough for you, your mates, and an Easter egg hunt, then check out cottages4u.co.uk who seem to still have a great selection of properties available. But as this is the site we're banking on, we aren't stupid enough to highlight our favourite picks.
