When someone says the phrase 'arts collective' does that immediately conjour up images of frazzled hippy veterans sat round a feast of mung beans and rice cakes while someone (possibly wearing hemp) belts out some freeform rant about the evils of 'the man'? Raison d'Etre have been promoting the best in non-commerical arts and music in London for a good fifteen years now and in that time they've become an independent force to be reckoned with, providing some of the best club nights in the capital and helping get a huge range of new artists noticed into the bargain. Tomorrow night sees one of Raison d'Etre's infamous audition
and open mic nights, whereby bands, musicians, artists, poets, dancers
- basically anyone with the urge and the talent to keep the masses entertained
- can take their chances on stage in the hope of becoming a member of
one of the most successful and respected arts collectives in the UK,
if not the world. |

And this isn't some X-Factor-style freakshow either, so no Cheeky Girls or Darius (and absolutely no Kate Thornton). Just good, old-fashioned raw talent and a decent night out for all involved. And if you want to break out your kaftan for old times' sake, well then no one's stopping you! Raison d'Etre
