From the makers of the decadent
Club Gascon in Smithfields, Le Cercle is a chic, and surprisingly
light, basement restaurant tucked away off Sloane Street.
With its witty French roots and glitzy location you might expect
something a bit too clever for its own good but the small seasonal
dishes served are just clever enough, and if you go for lunch
you can sample three of them for £15 - not exactly Belgravia
prices.
Our favourite thing, however, has to be the wine and cheese 'Tour
de France' that they've just introduced. Head sommelier Natalia
Zagrebina (she may not be French but she knows her stuff) will
guide you through some of France's finest fromages, matching them
up with a suitable tipple. Note to self: it's so last year to
ask for a glass of red with your camembert - white wine, champagne
and even cider are the way forward.
