What's happened to the world? First ostentatious wealth comes back into fashion (there are certain populations who never realised it went out of fashion). Then, in the US, a preppy revival resurfaces. Headbands are worn without irony. Ditto twin sets. People admit to being from the Upper East Side. Without shame. Cool seemingly is out. |

We never thought it would happen over here. Especially as, well, we're hipper. All our collective sartorial decisions are made east of Hoxton/Shoreditch (I think somewhere around Bethnal Green) and though we all know the pink pashmina and pink shirt brigade exists in the further reaches of SW1/SW7, it doesn't mean we take them seriously. Handbook has been re-released. Titled Cooler, Faster, More
Expensive: The Return of the Sloane Ranger, it seems the modern
Hooray Henry is more business-minded. And they have splintered into
new groups, like Euro Sloanes, Eco Sloanes and Bongo (that's the nutty
ones) Sloanes. |

The real message: seemingly, proud to be posh is okay. Again. We're all about being proud of who we are. But Sloanes, cool? Please. Cooler, Faster, More Expensive: The Return of the Sloane Ranger out from Atlantic Books available from amazon.co.uk |
