The Soul Searching Stops Here
Sharon

Up to this point The Dap Kings are best known for being Amy Winehouse's backing band on much of her last album. In fact a lot of that notable album's clout can be put down to the authentic soul vibes that The Dap Kings lent it.

Soul vibes are exactly what The Dap Kings specialise in. They are indeed a finely-tuned funk-soul machine who have been belting their hearts out alongside singer Sharon Jones in one form or another since the mid '90s. Together they hark back to the classic soul hey-day of the '60s and '70s to find a powerful authenticity by using instruments and production techniques of that era. The result is little short of awesome.

Jones, a former corrections officer at New York's infamous Ryker's Island prison is the real deal. If she had been born 30 years earlier she could have been one of King Studios' stars. Her talent for irresistibly funky soul has led to numerous tours and success for albums such as 'Naturally'.

New release '100 Days, 100 Nights' should garner this band more fans with yourself included. Resistance is futile.

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings' '100 Days, 100 Nights' is out now on Daptone Records and available at Amazon.co.uk.
