Redhead

I knew I was unique. Breaking news is I'm endangered.

Or, my people are. It seems that in less than a hundred years, the gene for red hair will become extinct.

While this may seem like good news in this country - where redheads are the most maligned and hated minority - there are those that are fretting about our decline.

It seems the recessive gene responsible for red hair, the MC1R, is slowly being bred out of humanity, mostly because we gingers don't stick to our own. By continually hooking up - and even breeding - with our blond and dark-haired admirers, we are actually contributing to our own decline.

What's more, since only two percent of the world has natural red hair, and only 4 percent is a MC1R carrier, it'll take drastic measures to ensure our survival. A US website, Redhedd.com, is aggressively trying to save the ginger gene by suggesting redheads "intra-marry" with each other, then "inter-marry" to spread the gene far and wide.

I'm obviously going to have to do my part for the cause. Now clearly, my first choice would have to be the strawberry stallion, Prince Harry. But if he won't have me, Jeffery O'Brien, I'm coming for you.
