Speed-The-Plow
When it opened on Broadway in 1988, David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow was an instant box office success, perhaps in part to the casting of Madonna as one of Mamet's rare female characters, Karen. Drawing on similar themes to his Pulitzer-winning Glengarry Glen Ross, it also focuses on the cynical world of big business, but relocating this time from the dodgy industry of real estate to the superficial realm of Hollywood. With the delightful Laura Michelle Kelly reprising Madge's role as the promise of spiritual salvation, and Jeff Goldblum's Bobby Gould and Kevin Spacey's Charlie Fox locked in his characteristically sharp dialogue, this is Mamet at his cutting, sceptical best.

La La La Human Steps: Amjad
Aside from having the most marvellously vacant sounding name (can you imagine the long, drawn our process of coming up with that?), La La La Human Steps are an internationally renowned, breathtaking Québécois dance troupe, who must be at least half-decent as they've worked with the likes of David Bowie, Frank Zappa and, lest we forget, German über-experimentalists Einstürzende Neubauten. To kick start their UK tour, choreographer extraordinaire Édouard Lock leads his energetic multimedia troupe through a reexamination of the Swan Lake tales in Amjad, replete with jaw-dropping acrobatics, incredible visuals and a stunning reworking of Tchaikovsky's score by British composer Gavin Bryers.

Andrew McAttee: Anti-Gravity
The bright and beautiful work of British artist Andrew McAttee returns for a new exhibition at the Forster gallery. Combining a bold graffiti aesthetic with a colourful intensity reminiscent of Manga, and elements that recall the pop art movement, McAttee's style is unique and utterly absorbing. His dazzling, almost lurid landscapes swell with explosive, globular molecules and weightless, swirling fogs, dripping clouds of neon and kitsch fluoro stars. Waves crash and curious islands of metaphysical goo and half-letters form from the nebulous expanse of his fantastic imaginings, exploring the hallucinatory mysteries of the beyond that we all wished the Hubble was going to beam back.
