Relaxed yet grown-up East End basement
Reclaimed copper and Victorian glazed bricks have been deployed to beautify this 60-cover space beneath the original Hawksmoor. Turquoise art nouveau tiles, dark blue leather and peacock blue walls make it a more glamorous proposition than any of its steak-purveying siblings, though the atmosphere is as relaxed and good-humoured as ever. There's a short drinks list of 10 cocktails, including the famed Shaky Pete's Ginger Brew, the Marmalade Cocktail and five monthly changing specials.
Top Tip:
The booths fit nine people, and the bar food is great, so groups of friends can make a night of it if they book.
