Chef Mark Hix has been building up a veritable restaurant empire in recent years, satisfying Londoners with his mod-British cuisine. Tramshed is a little different. Housed in a cavernous old generator building in East London, it’s all about the chicken and steak – all served with mountains of perfect skinny fries. Admire the (slightly disturbing) Damien Hirst installation – just in case you forget what you’re eating – and check out the gallery downstairs during the day.

They do takeaway. Dirty chicken just got an upgrade.
