Like we needed another excuse to head to Formentera, the island’s first five-star hotel has just opened. Inspired by ‘60s flower power, Five Flowers has 79 rooms ranging from boutique to grand suite; expect a pillow menu and a choice of a round bed (it’s 2.2 metres across, don’t worry) or a more traditional king or queen. For a little more r’n’r, the spa has a thermal circuit with Jacuzzi, ice fountain, heated loungers, sauna and Turkish bath.

Top tip: The restaurant features the latest concept, Kokoy, from Hideki Matsuhisa – the only Japanese chef with a Michelin star in Spain (Ferran Adrià calls his BCN restaurant one of the best in the country).
