What was once a personality-less backpacker’s and budget family hotel was transformed last year – in less than two months! – into a cool little boutique hotel just off the main road to Santa Eulalia. There are 11 rooms and one suite, and the owners (a gay couple, both named Andreas) have imparted their good taste into each: rusted, cast iron furniture lends a rustic touch, while artichoke wallpaper, colourful Moroccan baskets, and sunbeds with custom, marble-print covers bring character in spades.

Top tip: Breakfast is a pretty relaxed, social affair here – don’t be surprised if you find yourself still at your table at noon, debating the island’s best beaches and restaurants with fellow guests.
