A really fantastic flea market cum car boot sale (‘rastrillo’ in Spanish) set in the old hippodrome at Salinas on the south end of the island – just at the roundabout to Salinas and the airport. The horseracing track is lined with cars peddling anything and everything from second-hand books, clothes and jewellery to music, toys and ornaments. There’s a bar where you can enjoy a Saturday morning coffee and snacks and at midday local bongo players meet on the spectator steps for a full-on jam session. If you fancy doing a bit of selling yourself, stands are cheap and are on a first-come first-serve basis. You can even hire a pitch the Friday afternoon before for a little extra! Brace yourself, it can get busy so go early if you need to park.

Pick up treasures for a bargainous one euro each! Don’t forget euros for parking.
