Okay, the disclaimer is: we're going on about Brixton again. But this time, we can assure you, we have done a walk by, and this place looks - dare we say it - like a serious find. |

Tucked away in front of Brixton Rec (and hidden from Pappa Roach concert goers), Hive's an almost sacred hideaway. The interior's a complete contrast to the high street chaos - think olive walls, oak tables, window booths and low lighting. The music's not blasting Madonna on repeat (sorry SW9, but seriously...) and due to its find-and-seek location, it's not absolutely rammed. They've got a small, slightly sparse (we know it's work in progress though) but cosy room upstairs with decks and leather sofas; it has a definite house party vibe and looks like the perfect venue to host a south side soiree. And the food? Produce is seasonal and organic (of course) and the menu's the requisite mod English/Euro affair. Highlights include a mixed plate for two (wild boar sausage & mash and chilli king prawns etc) and Sunday Roast (including edible veggie op and acoustic guitar). Wines and cocktails look good too. We're scared to even put it in print, but we think we might have finally found a local.
