There are certain individuals upon whom life just doesn't smile. Similarly, there are certain London streets that never seem to quite take off. |

Lying parallel to Kensington Park Road, which plays host to a thriving array of eateries and sits adjacent to Portobello, Ladbroke Grove has seen many a restaurant or bar open with a roar only to close with a whimper. But could Mean Fiddler mogul Vince Power be about to do for the area what Douglas Ankrah has for Beauchamp Place and the Galvins for Baker Street? Ten West (no relation to Nine) opens today, with a Shaun Clarkson-designed Miami theme (we like), jungle print wallpaper and a tented ceiling, teal (we love) leather chairs and a food offering that's a cut above your standard fare: think ceviches (we salivate) and dishes such as roast pumpkin and salt cod risotto. The only foreseeable element to go out of date anytime soon is the virgin 'Donatella' cocktail, a tribute to the fashion empress's sober status.
