It's comeback time! Evita is returning to the West End, Whitney Houston is apparently trying to remember where she left her talent, and today the Atlantic Bar and Grill makes its triumphant return... kind of. |

When Oliver Peyton was rather ungracefully chucked out of the Atlantic last year, he assured us that the situation was 'temporary' and those famous art deco alcoves would once again ring with the sound of celebs slurping high concept cocktails. Instead it looks like Peyton has been given his marching orders and new boss Luke 'Pizza Express' Johnson has had the truly revolutionary idea of changing the name to Astor Bar and Grill and serving up steaks alongside live performances and art installations. Gourmet steaks are a good idea (we're fed up of travelling to the States for a good slice of cow and it's not like the Aberdeen Steak Houses are much competition) but do we really need an Atlantic Bar and Grill looky-likey? The only people who are going to be fooled are the tourists who are too busy reading the guidebook to check the sign above the door, and we doubt that will be enough to fill that rather cavernous interior. Our advice? Stop trying to live up to past glories, make sure the cocktails are good and the steaks aren't overdone, and the rest should take care of itself.
