All employers please take note: if one must organise a themed staff night out then for pity's sake don't go for the school disco option or the questionable fun that is a 'medieval banquet'. These types of things inevitably end in fights, divorce or (at best) instant dismissal. |

If you really must entertain your workforce - or worse, impress would be clients or court jaded press - then at least exercise a bit of imagination and treat them to an evening spent in a genuine haunted house. The House of Magic is 4,000 sq feet of Victorian creepiness located in a cobwebbed corner of central London which comes equipped with a haunted cellar, an Egyptian Room, and an Enchanted Garden that Alan Titchmarsh definitely wouldn't approve of. This mansion of the macabre is owned by Simon Drake, the man who created the show 'The Secret Cabaret' for Channel 4 in which he would regularly dress up like an extra from Mad Max and decapitate scantily clad goth chicks to the tune of Iron Maiden (which was kind of cool in the early 90s). Now he rents out his own personal house of horrors for private parties. On the surface, it may sound like another tacky murder mystery haunt - but we think, it actually sounds like good fun. So the next time the boss asks if you've got any ideas for a departmental knees-up get in there quick before someone suggests karaoke again.
