So, have you decided where your loyalties lie yet? Are you a London Lite-ite or more of a thelondonpaper person? And do you even care? |

Up until a week or so ago Londoners looking for a bit of free afternoon news had to pick up a discarded Metro from the floor of the Tube; but now we're actually spoilt for choice. So is London just a one paper town, and if so which paper is destined to become the Betamax and which one's the VHS? Well Associated Newspapers' London Lite has the advantage of the Evening Standard 'fanbase', but last time we checked it wasn't advisable to cannibalise your own market. And isn't that word 'Lite' a little too American? Do we really want our newspapers to sound like an energy drink? But on the other hand: thelondonpaper (launching today)? Are the hip kids not using spaces anymore? And what about these accusations of plagiarism that have been thrown about? Are the two papers even going to be that different or will it be the same scaremongering, C-list gossip and Soduku under a different name? In the end though we all know what the one, important
factor is that will see one paper emerge victorious... and that's who
gives away the best DVDs. |
