With the new gaming legislation in place, casinos, it seems, are the order of the day and cropping up all over London, giving us all the chance to get dolled up and have a flutter when the mood takes us. |

The blackjack table is all well and good of course, but the tables I'm interested in serve another purpose. Maybe it's a sign that diners are in need of a little more action with their caramelised foie gras, but no high-class gambling den is complete now without its own glam restaurant - or two. Fifty set the trend by inviting Jean-Georges Vongerichten to oversee the gents-clubby V and buzzier Rama, and the new The Casino at The Empire has pan-Asian FuLushou and bar and grill, Flame. Not to be outdone, the fabulously named Palm Beach Casino has employed
the services of fusion chef David Laval to create such high-rollers
as Thai seafood laksa with lobster and caviar and soft shell crab in
lemongrass and saffron sauce. |

Unfortunately none of the above have followed the tradition of making the food complimentary, but if you're in an impulsive frame of mind, what difference is a fat restaurant bill going to make to losing a couple of grand - at least you'll be well fed. Fifty,
