| Cheese. Everywhere. Patricia Michelson's
La Fromagerie is thus something of a vegan's nightmare
(but then, so are most restaurants), but if you’re ever
partial to a wee slither of a rich, nutty Stilton, a buttery Brie
or toasty Gruyere then this is like dying and going to the great
                Cheese Shack in the Sky.
In fact, it's a little like heaven if you're into any food. Wonder
through the wide stable-like entrance off Marylebone High Street
and you're greeted by a selection of vibrant organic peppers,
pots of magical-looking honeys and conserves with handmade labels
(and appropriately high price tags) and an incredible selection
of meats. To the right is the glass-walled cheese room, literally
stacked with cheesey offerings from pretty much any farm animal
that can produce milk. And in the back, behind it all, there's
even a little slice of in-house culinary perfection.
The café-restaurant is possibly one of the tiniest in
town, but with a seasonal menu of charcuterie plates, quiches
and delightful cakes, it really is something of a treasure ideal
for a sneaky tea or leisurely weekend brunch. The folks there
will also happily pair any of their cheeses or meats to a specific
wine from their enviable selection, or indeed vice versa if your
                priorities are so inclined.
