When the sun shines, as it has done this week, can you blame a boy's thoughts for turning to the seaside? A nice pier. A breeze on the face. A fancy town like Aldeburgh, Whitstable or Cromer to snoop round. And fish and chips on the promenade. |

But for those of us who can't drag our sorry asses out of town, it might be easier to sample one of London's best-loved institutions: the posh-ish chippie. Yes, we all know about the Fryers Delight in Holborn, the Golden Hind in Marylebone, or the Sea Shell in Lisson Grove, so why not throw a couple of extra quid in the pot and head for the freshly-spruced up Geales in Notting Hill? Formerly a Thirties diner, it was recently bought by the team behind
the Embassy Club. Posh interior: check. Champagne bar: check. Chippie-priced
fish 'n' chips? Not quite. |

But then at £11 a go - with cheaper kiddie portions - it's hardly going to break the bank, is it? Oh, and tip-dodgers can relax, too; they promise to add just 15p cover charge to your bill. Cod only knows why. (Sorry.) Geales Restaurant
- launch tonight, opens to general public from lunch Tuesday May 8 |
