Columbia Road. That's where they sell the flowers isn't it? I mean, okay, so you can always stop in for a pint at the Royal Oak or the Flea Pit, but if you don’t feel up to Azalea-hunting and the necessary crush to buy them (and then the trek home) then there's nothing much else to do there otherwise, right?

Wrong. At the far end of the road, passed the flower market and the array of ever-closed shops, besides the cobble-stoned stretch that leads to City Farm, there sits a curious and almost unsettlingly local looking gaff: Argos-esque plastic furniture; tired exterior; seeming emptiness. But within, ah! This anti-tardis of a restaurant (it actually manages to be smaller than it looks. Sorry: cosier) serves up, almost surprisingly, some of the best pizzas in London.

For the wounded weekenders, they also do a stonking all-day English breakfast and, if pizza isn't your thing, the vegetarian risotto is to die (or at least kill) for. A range of beer and decent wines cover the beverage base. And just for kicks, try heading up there on a school night when Columbia Road becomes a churchyard and there's not a bloody Azalea in sight.
