Review: Prins Thomas 'Cosmo Galactic Prism'
Prins Thomas 'Cosmo Galactic Prism'

Space is the place...

One for the hedonists and inter-galactic sound explorers in need of a poolside compilation for summer '07.

Coming from the open, and slightly warped, mind of one of Norway's finest music purveyors - Prins Thomas - this is a multi-tempo, genre-crossing fusion of cosmic disco, balearic, psychedelic rock and electronica.

If you're not quite sure what that means, don't worry. In Queen's English it translates as a stimulating but always groovy mix of old and new gems from the left side of dance music. So there you are.

It's a double album which includes underground stables such as Visnadi's 'Racing Tracks' and Lindstrom's 'Another Station', but more unusually allows appearances from Hawkwind and Bob James amongst tracks as brilliant as 'Cool In The Pool' by Holger Czukay and The Electric South aka Ashley Beedle's fab southern gospel hoe-down 'Sing'.

If you're too old to be listening to Ed Bangers but still need a groove in your life, then this compilation might surprise you. Those only interested in Mylo-style tunes might be left confused though.
