Spa relaxation is so passé. You want results: expect to wince; maybe even whimper. Having opted for Pimms rather than Pilates for the winter, we're prepared to endure a little discomfort in pursuit of Grable-worthy gams. Pressotherapy, a pre-beach, cellulite-busting procedure is described like "being squeezed like an orange". |

Adopting the virtues of lymphatic drainage massage (improves varicose and spider veins, reduces bloating and swelling, improves skin tone and firmness, shapes the legs and reduces cellulite), Pressotherapy - in a 21st Century way - removes the human touch. Instead of personal pushing, heel-to-hip waders are placed on the legs. Next, the five chambers inside the boots inflate with air, much like a blood pressure machine. Each chamber - working from toe to top - inflates and deflates repetitively for thirty minutes. The intention is to expedite the drainage of the toxin-carrying lymph glands, leaving your thighs toned and taut. The initial discomfort wears off after the first couple passes and, in a slightly masochistic, fashion, the pain becomes, um, almost enjoyable. |

And while inches did not magically disappear - it's been falsely described as an enjoyable alternative to liposuction - our skin was smoother and less dimply. And that is certainly worth a few tears. Pressotherapy
