Witty Hix’s home from home
A Soho stalwart, this lovely room beneath Hix on Brewer Street could be a members’ hangout, with its leather chesterfields, antiqued mirrors and apothecary-style bar; in theory, it’s open to anyone who knows it’s there. The drinks are as expert as the association with Nick Strangeway suggests, and the bar snacks are satisfyingly British: River Exe sand eels, Evesham radishes with celery salt, chips with curry sauce.
Top Tip:
If you're nostalgic for mushy peas, try a Stiff Upper Lip: green-pea-infused Beefeater gin with Somerset cider vinegar, Mark’s nettle cordial and smacked mint.
