SUPER SUPER HOT HOT FLW HIGHLIGHTS
- VOL 3
One
of the week's hottest tickets, as it has been
for a few seasons now, was undoubtably Giles Deacon
("get yr freak on"!!). Pity then those
who actually had tickets, duly turned up and then
weren't allowed in, as Giles went for the 'exclusive'
approach, showing his latest wares to a small,
elite gathering. Everyone was ushered into a holding
area, served drinks, etc, but then only the hand-picked
few were actually deigned of great enough import
to enter the inner sanctum to witness the unveiling
of his extra sharp, graphic (very black'n'white)
n sexy show.Given Gareth Pugh's show on Tuesday
(graphic/black n white/sharp), we see a trend
(or at least trend page) emerging.
With so much talk about 'coming of age'
will the up'n'comings (Kane/Nicholl/Pugh/et al)
finally do it this LFW, and how it seemed
strangely fitting that the grande dame, Zandra
Rhodes herself, came back into fash week view
once more. It was all 'very Zandra', as expected
(colourful, 'zany', etc) but with just enough
of the newness factor.
Jean Pierre Braganza done well, too. Trademark
tight n tailored menswear taken onwards - 'coming
of age'?? Looking forward: yes, there's Armani
(there always will be), but for a glimpse of the
'real London Street Style' in action (or 'London's
extreme club scene' if you're vogue.com), head
to All You Can Eat tonight, at Electrowerkz. The
Nu Rave Revolution starts here.
