Made up of five coves, many claim Bidderosa is Sardinia’s most beautiful beach. You’ll need to walk through about 4km of forest to get there, but even the journey’s a treat surrounded by junipers, eucalyptus, pine trees and lilies. Break through to the shore and you’ll see perfect turquoise water, silver sand, and red rocks. Head to Curcurica pond if you want to stay out of the surf and spot a flamingo. Because of its amazing natural beauty Bidderosa beach is part of a protected nature reserve and only open to a limited number of 130 cars every day. Get there early and buy your entry ticket (EUR 12 + EUR 1 per person) from the Forest Authorities station – keep your eyes out for the stone building with a sloping roof!
UJ’s Insider Tips
Make a point of visiting during a Sunday in August, when a typical Sardinian lunch is served under the pine trees in the forest bordering the beach. We’d recommend forking out the extra Euro to reserve your ticket in advance during the popular summer months.
