Steve Ball
Owner of the Colombo Group
Although he’s always busy in London, Colombo Group owner Steve Ball always makes time for Ibiza. He instantly fell in love with the island as an impressionable teenager back in 1994, feeling as if he had “discovered a fantasy world”. Now, his trips back are simply for the “people, energy, and weather.”
Steve’s top tips
1. Get away from the madness of Playa d’en Bossa to Clandestino, a family-run restaurant by Pierre Paulo and Sabrina, who are excellent hosts. There is no cocktail list; just tell Pierre Paulo how you are feeling and he´ll mix up an excellent drink every time.
2. Cas Pagés is a traditional Ibicencan meat grill and oozes history, integrity and lots and lots of grilled meat. The arroz de matanzas, a traditional rice stew with pork, chicken and local wild mushrooms, is the tastiest thing you’ll ever try.
3. Residents talk about La Finca Can Suldat in hushed tones to keep it to themselves. It’s a very old, pretty and hidden away restaurant in the north, open all year round. Dine outside in the courtyard during the summer and move inside to the fireplace in winter. The owner, Swiss Peter, loves to look after you and make you laugh, which he does every time. Make sure to try his homemade limoncello, but go easy….
