VAG - Vancouver Art Gallery
Home to all the big exhibitions that come through Vancouver (think Vermeer, Warhol and thematic series on everything from anime to impressionism), as well as extensive collections of work by Canadian artists like Emily Carr, the Vancouver Art Gallery is a focal point in downtown. Walk by and you'll see teenagers hanging out on the steps, step inside and aside from exhibitions, you'll find a great gallery shop and a chic café, with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's recently been announced that the gallery will be moving to an as yet to be determined new building on the waterfront of False Creek, so catch it while you can in its downtown location.
